The AS 2021 cross-country event will take place on 21 Mars 2021.

The Transversale des As de l'Ain is a 1st category cycle race linking the town of St VULBAS to the Hauteville Lompnès plateau.

Each year, a different commune on the Hauteville plateau hosts the finish of the Transversale des AS. The event is dedicated to five former professional cyclists from the Ain department who have flown its colors, namely :

Jean Dumont - Joseph Carrara - Francis Rigon - Raymond Elena - Roger Pingeon, and Robert Alban

When it was created in 1995, the race was called Belley - Saint-Denis-les-Bourg-Belley, before taking on its current name two years later. Previously a two-event race, the format was changed in 2010 to a classic.

Internationally renowned riders such as Samuel DUMOULIN (2000) - Jérôme COPPEL (2007) - Jean-Christophe Péraud (2008) - Arthur Vichot (2008) - Jean Christophe PERRAUD (2008) or Romain Bardet (2009) - Nans PETERS (2015) , have shone on this race before joining the professional ranks.

The particularity of this event lies in its profile, as you can see from the presentation leaflet.
To sum up the 139.3 kilometers, the first 70 are flat before tackling a pass to climb to the Hauteville plateau and then on to narrow, undulating roads with a few bumps to liven things up.
